A mild drought has been followed by a deluge of fiber projects:
1) I did start the hat based on the double helix cable, and it's really fun to knit. Since it won't take long and I have a few DVDs to watch, I think it's wisest to finish the hat before I move on further with items 2 & 3.
2) The laptop, named Ixchel for the Mayan goddess of weaving, arrived yesterday. I got her set up, and Fiberworks is installed. After fiddling with a few shadow weave drafts, I've decided on one for the dish towels that will work nicely with 8/2 cotton. I did consider other treadlings on the same draft, but this one just plain works both for the eye and the sett.
3) The yarn arrived from the company that asked me to design a shawl. It's gorgeous, but I'll have to exfoliate a few more callouses from my fingers before I start working with fine silk. What a shame that Elaine had to suspend Handwork Products - I'll definitely have to ration the olive & sugar hand polish once I get my fingers into shape.
May your new year be an improvement on the old!
