Yes, it's another cabled-brim hat, but this time I used leftover qiviut for the lining. That's both less bulky and warmer around the ears, and I'm very pleased with the result.
The latest issue of Väv arrived today with a really odd cover photo that made me fear the Swedes had gone the way of Shuttle, Spindle and Crackpot. Fortunately, there were real textiles inside. Whew.
It would make more sense for me to get out my BW books and make myself a hat like your one from your cable-brimmed series, rather than just sitting here and turning green with envy.
Um, in other words, I love those hats. Absolutely beautiful, and the qiviut lining is just an elegant touch.

Oh my gawd! A fiber word I had to go look up! qiviut - amazing, is it really from musk-ox? The hat is fabulous. Is the pattern yours or where can I find it?

Love the hat....but I thought you didn't like hats? The outer shell of the hat is what fiber?

First, I just discover your blog, and I found your lace proyects absolutly lovely, I had read your archives since 2003 and I had enjoy them so much! I have so many questions, for example where do you get your 'qiviut yarn'? is it expensive? where did you find your patterns for the 'wimples' or 'neck warmers' I try to download your graphs, with no luck, but I know is because I still do not handle computer well.
Do you create your shawls? like the round small one? Well I had put your weblog as a 'must check' every day, and I look foward for everything you knit!!! Sincerely,
Ana

Valerie, this particular hat is for a friend. I do enjoy making hats, though, because while I know lots of two-face people, I don't know any with two heads :)

So Catherine, have you had enough opportunities to use that new snow blower yet?
Valerie (whose hands are numb from the vibration of pushing a snow blower for the past 2 hours in Michigan.)
