Courtesy of my mother, I got to do a little Webs sale shopping. The large cone at the upper left is their new 2/14 alpaca/silk blend, nice for weaving or lace knitting. I got a few cones in natural so that I can dye the yarn as I wish.
On the right side are half-bleach and natural 16/2 linen, while the two tubes on the lower left are 20/2 linen. I stocked up, because wet-spun linen is only available at this kind of discount once every zillion blue moons.
The unbleached 16/2 will become bath towels, and the bleached will be hair towels. I worked out a draft in 7 shaft Atwater-Bronson lace last night ready for sampling.
And since the temperature and humidity have receded to pleasant levels, I'm going back to work on the Zephyr pattern. I can usually knit when it's hot, but the yarn was sticking to my fingers this past week, so I gave up.
Barn kitty update: the little gray kitten, who is now named "Wicket", went to Connecticut on Monday, and the tabby boys will have homes soon. But some bastard deliberately ran over their grandmother (Huey and Jeeves' mother) last week. The jackasses around there seem to like hunting with cars: when they're not jacking deer, they run over the smaller creatures, like cats, rabbits and wild turkeys, who won't damage their manly vehicles. And people wonder why I'd like to invent a perimeter barrier that would pepper-spray any human trespassing on posted land ...
