Quiet, but busy

It's hard to post when you're busy knitting something you can't show. But I am churning away on the latest shawl and I'm pleased with the look, feel and drape.

This is the first project I've done on the Addi lace needles. OK, yes, they definitely deserve the hype. The tips are great for fiddling with stitches, and they're metal. (I hate wood because it slows me down too much.) Plus, the joins are very smooth and the cables flexible. Now I need to order a longer one, since the current project is gonna be a big-ish shawl and will need more room in the not-too-distant future.

A midnight present

The boys proudly brought me a (live) mouse at midnight. I escorted mousie from the bed to the outdoors and gave the cats a few treats for their efforts. What a nice way to wake up ...

I'm making good progress on the newest shawl. The stitch pattern is my own design, or at least I think it is, since I've never seen it elsewhere. The drape and hand are particularly nice.

A lost book found

Insert sigh of relief here! I found my copy of Tessa Lorant's long out-of-print Knitted Lace Edgings today. Mine's a second edition, circa 1982, which is about how long I've had it! I've got two of her other books, but the edgings are the most useful.

After much swatching, I've decided on the next shawl, which may go to IK, if they ever update their submission guidelines. They take swatches, sketches and hot air rather than finished stuff, but I prefer to work out the whole design first. Whatever ...
